Co-founder of the PAIMAN Alumni Trust
Mossarat Qadeem is co-founder of the PAIMAN Alumni Trust, an organisation working to prevent and counter violent extremism in Pakistan. The organisation works to build social cohesion through community mobilisation and community empowerment. The organisation has been held responsible for preventing thousands of young people and women from becoming extremists. She is also currently working with the National Commission on the Status of Women in Pakistan. Mossarat has previously worked as a Professor of Political Science for fourteen years at the University of Peshawar.
Mossarat is a passionate international advocate for the issue of de-radicalisation in relation to women, peace and security and has spoken at the United Nations General Assembly on the subject.
She is a member of the Global Peacebuilder Network, Women Waging Peace, Women Alliance for Security Leadership and the International Review Panel of Global Community and Resilience Fund.
