Celia McKeon of Conciliation Resources writes about the need for changes in current approaches to ending conflicts.  Her article explains that an essential characteristic of a peace process should be inclusiveness.

To increase the chances of settlements being successful in the long-term, they need to engage effectively with armed groups and civil society.  Exclusion of non-state actors can in fact lead to more violence.
