This summary of recommendations to donors ahead of the Donors' Conference on Georgia (held in Brussels in 2008) outlines key factors which Conciliation Resources and and four other partner organisations working in the region consider to be relevant when giving aid.

Firstly, donors must develop an informed understanding of the context of the conflict, including the significant economic, political and social aspects.  Secondly, in order for aid to be effective, certain principles and approaches should be followed.  For example, it is important to ensure that aid is conflict sensitive, focuses on long-term peacebuilding and promotes accountability.
