About the position
The PDA project is a 3-year project run by a consortium of Conciliation Resources and 4 Fijian organisations: Citizens’ Constitutional Forum (CCF), Transcend Oceania (TO), Dialogue Fiji and Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding (PCP).
The overall objective of the project is to strengthen democratic governance in Fiji through effective and sustained participation of civil society and marginalised groups in local and national policymaking.
The specific objective is to strengthen the role of civil society and communities in Fiji’s transition to a more inclusive and accountable governance system, including through increased participation in policy formulation processes and accountability mechanisms.
The project has 3 intermediary outcomes:
-
Communities and their leaders (including women and youth) have increased skills and knowledge to participate effectively in local and national governance processes and engage with the authorities in social dialogue and policy formulation processes.
-
Increased effective engagement, monitoring and reporting by civil society on democratisation and development issues to public authorities.
-
Fijian CSOs have strengthened capacities to operate effectively, cohesively and sustainably in Fiji’s emerging democracy, including increased engagement with public authorities and strengthened linkages with communities, national and regional Pacific civil society and international stakeholders.
