Last week the UN reviewed the implementation of its commitments on women, peace and security contained in the historic UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

Amidst the celebration, serious questions still need to be asked about how far women have come - and been allowed to come - in terms of actively leading and participating in shaping critical issues of global security.

Profiling the work of front-line women peacebuilders is crucial and now is the time to push the politics of women's leadership in determining their empowerment in peace processes and in the transformative potential of lasting peace.
