When: 16 March at 12:15 - 14:00 CET

Where: Brussels

Conciliation Resources EU and DanChurchAid are hosting a lunch discussion on peacebuilding and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in the Central African Republic. The event will take place on 16 March 2023 from 12:15 - 14:00 CET at Quaker House, Square Ambiorix 50, 1000 Brussels. A light lunch will be served.

Conciliation Resources and DanChurchAid have worked together since 2021 to develop an integrated MHPSS-peacebuilding approach in the Central African Republic (CAR). The event will draw on practical examples from the UN Peacebuilding Fund funded project Disarmament of the Heart, and launch a report entitled "Mental health and peacebuilding in the Central African Republic: implications for policy and practice".

We will be joined by Lisa Heinzel, Conciliation Resources' Project Manager for East and Central Africa, and Theophane Ngbaba, DanChurchAid’s Peacebuilding Project Manager for CAR. The discussion will reflect on how communities’ spiritual beliefs can be better integrated into peacebuilding and MHPSS programmes. Building on the research findings outlined in the report, we will explore policy and practice implications for post-conflict justice and reconciliation processes, conflict analysis and early warning, the reintegration of former armed group members, the return of internally displaced people and youth and women’s participation in peacebuilding.

The event will be in-person only so space will be limited. If you would like to attend, please email Dearbhaile O'Callaghan (docallaghan@c-r.org).
