Peacebuilding experts from across our global programmes shared their experiences and ideas on the political, legal and operational challenges of different forms of non-violent engagement with armed groups. The meeting also considered how anti-terrorism laws, regulations and policy impact upon mediators and peacebuilders.

During the event, Conciliation Resources presented the findings of a public survey we conducted in 2017 alongside Alliance for Peacebuilding. It was the first ever national survey of public attitudes in the UK, US and German towards peacebuilding and dialogue with armed groups.

In this film, Teresa Dumasy, Conciliation Resources’ Director of Policy and Learning, explains why it’s important to understand what the public think about talking to armed groups and how the results of the survey could be used by governments and institutions.
