• Position Title: Consultancy to conduct research on how women mediators across the Commonwealth can participate and gain greater access to decision-making roles in mediation and peace processes and to identify what the key enablers and mechanisms are.
  • Location: Remote working, meetings to be conducted online via Skype, Zoom, Google Meet or phone.
  • Duration: 8 January 2021 – 22 March 2021
  • Reporting to: Senior Adviser, Gender and Peacebuilding

Conciliation Resources and WMC are seeking a consultant to conduct research on how to create an enabling environment for women mediators to operate more effectively and to produce a report to document good practice examples and recommendations for policy makers and key stakeholders, in collaboration with the Senior Adviser, Gender and Peacebuilding.

Building on the research already conducted, WMC members have indicated the need for the collation of further case studies and evidence to support the implementation of the recommendations made and to unpack how women mediators are included in practice and what the key enablers are.

The aim of this research is to explore these questions further and to look at what has been done by which actors to support women into mediation processes at (a) the personal family/ community level; (b) within institutions (both formal and informal) and (c) what contributed to this change and whether it happened as a result of any contributing factors within the external environment (e.g. political, economic, social, technological, environmental or legal).
