Workshop report: mechanisms for political participation of the public in peacemaking

In February 2002, Conciliation Resources hosted a joint analysis workshop, which brought together people working on conflict transformation initiatives to exchange ideas and experiences of efforts to promote mechanisms for political participation of the public in the peace processes in Colombia, Guatemala, Mali, Northern Ireland, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Somalia, and South Africa. This workshop report summarises the discussions that took place and describes key issues, mechanisms and phases of peacemaking and provides short examples from specific experiences.
