Tahir leads on Conciliation Resources' work in South Asia. The programme works to facilitate greater participation of communities on both sides of the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir (administered by India and Pakistan respectively) in peace processes. Tahir supports collaborative initiatives around trade, tourism, disaster management and economic development. These contribute to building confidence and relationships across divides. They put special focus on creating space for the inclusion of those who are marginalised such as women, displaced people, ex-combatants and youth.

Tahir Aziz worked for five years as a Senior Associate with the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy, an NGO based in Washington DC where he was closely involved in conflict transformation activities in Kashmir. He was also previously the Director of the Human Rights Commission of the Government of Pakistan–administered Kashmir and a Visiting Fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies. Tahir holds two Masters degrees – one in Anthropology awarded by the Quaid-e-Azam University, Pakistan (with a thesis based on field research with the Kashmiri community in England) and the second in International Peace and Conflict Studies at the Joan B. Kroc Institute of International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. In 2018 Tahir undertook a 21st-century executive leadership programme at Harvard University. Tahir speaks English, Urdu, Punjabi and Pahari.
