Depuis 2008, l’Armée de résistance du Seigneur (Lord’s Resistance Army, LRA) enlève des enfants et des adultes dans les zones frontalières oubliées de la République démocratique du Congo (RDC), de la République centrafricaine (RCA) et du Soudan du Sud. Les milliers de personnes qui survivent à cette épreuve doivent par la suite entreprendre le douloureux processus de réintégrer une vie civile normale.
