The case studies of this Accord Insight focus on specific contexts, yet also provide three general insights for peacebuilding practitioners and policymakers: women's efforts can broaden the scope of peacebuilding; overcoming challenges to political participation is vital; understanding gender relations is key to building sustainable peace.

Seminar report: New ways to end old wars

A group of 50 practitioners, policymakers and academics gathered in London in May 2012 to explore what we are all learning of new and innovative ways of dealing with protracted armed conflicts and preventing violence. Convened by Conciliation Resources, this was the first in what we hope will become a series of yearly expert seminars on this theme.

Based on the seminar this 8-page report highlights key learning and observations on:

  • Citizens' path to peace

From conflict analysis to peacebuilding impact: Lessons from the People's Peacemaking Perspectives project

Funded by the European Commission, the People’s Peacemaking Perspectives (PPP) project was an 18-month joint initiative between Conciliation Resources and Saferworld.

At the culmination of the project a 38-page report and a 4-page executive summary highlighted the key lessons from this in-depth participatory research.
