In light of the UK government's decision to have a Strategic Defence and Security Review, Conciliation Resources made a submission to the National Security Council.

Its conclusions, based on experience in fragile regions, are that peaceful and resilient societies abroad are in the UK’s national interest.  It suggests, for example, prioritising joint research and analysis across government departments.

It also highlights that the greatest threats and opportunities come from non-state actors and recommends ensuring counter-terrorism legislation does not undermine peace processes.

A further observation is the need for more investment in the promotion of endogenous political settlements.
