In January 2006, Conciliation Resources made a submission to the UK Parliament’s International Development Committee inquiry on conflict and development.

In its memorandum it urged the UK government to (1) commit greater political and financial resources to non-military responses to armed conflict and (2) consider mainstream public participation as an essential ingredient to effective resolutions.

It made recommendations, based on experience, about how the UK can make its policies more 'conflict sensitive'.  For example, it can use more sophisticated sanctions and it can improve its peacebuilding policies through efforts such as engaging non-state armed groups.

There are also proposals on how the UK can better support global conflict resolution efforts.
