At a time when many see the Georgian—Abkhaz conflict as 'frozen', this article by Rachel Clogg of Conciliation Resources gives a comprehensive analysis of the current political climates in Georgia and Abkhazia and examines what these could mean for peace prospects in the region.

The article looks at the leadership style of newly–elected Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili and whether it is conducive to renewing the peace process.  It also comments on upcoming elections in Abkhazia and Abkhazia's increasing links to Russia.  Rachel Clogg also identifies signs of positive changes in the region which may help to re-start peace talks.
