Participant reflections: Antoinette Raquiza: Reflections on Colombia’s land conflict from a peace and development framework

Conciliation Resources coordinated an exchange between peace practitioners from Colombia and the Philippines in 2010.  After the visits, the participants wrote papers about the experience and possible ways forward in the struggle for peace.

Antoinette Raquiza, a Filipino participant, wrote Reflections on Colombia’s land conflict from a peace and development framework.  The paper makes observations about similarities between Colombia and the Philippines and focusses on land ownership.  

The first section summarises the changing nature of the land conflict in Colombia and the second section discusses the land restitution and reparation agenda.  By way of a conclusion, it outlines lessons that can be learned in the Philippines.
