This is a Power Point presentation given by Kristian Herbolzheimer of Conciliation Resources and Sulong CARHRIHL about indigenous people (IPs).

As well as giving an overview of IPs issues in countries such as Guatemala and of the international conventions in place for their protection, this presentation looks specifically at the impact of conflicts on IPs.  Displacement and forced recruitment are just some reasons why IPs are disproportionately affected by fighting.

The slides also highlight the diversity of IPs.  For example, their reactions range from passivity to active violence and cultural traditions can be warrior or peaceful, depending on the group.  IPs in peace processes and women IPs are also examined.
