Falling through the net: The challenges for returning adult ex-combatants in northern Uganda

This report contains the findings of research conducted by Human Rights Focus (HURIFO) with the support of Conciliation Resources into the experience of adults who return home from the Lord's Resistance Army.

It has been compiled from interviews with former abductees gathered in 2003.  As well as examining their experiences of reintegration, the paper explains the challenges that face the receiving communities.  

A series of observations and recommendations to improve the reintegration of adults are also presented.  For example, supporting amnesties, researching into psycho-social needs of the ex-combatants and empowering them are suggested.
