Accord
Many of Conciliation Resources’ educational and training materials emerge from Accord projects and are developed in line with the needs and requests of partners. They are designed to:
- challenge current thinking on the conflict in question
- increase awareness and understanding of the main issues in the peace process
- give insight into attempts to deal with the conflict
These materials can also be used independently to stimulate learning about conflicts and peace processes.
- Accord public participation in peacemaking project
Conciliation Resources’ teaching materials on public participation are for use in workshops and other educational forums. They are available in English and Spanish and have been used in workshops in Sri Lanka, Colombia, the Philippines and the Middle East.
One of our Colombian partners, Programa por la Paz, has also with our support developed a Spanish language education pack on public participation in peace processes. This draws upon Accord issue 13 to provide teaching materials for community-based learning about opportunities for participation.
- Accord Papua New Guinea-Bougainville project
Our project partner Bougainville Inter-Church Women’s Forum (BICWF) on Accord issue 12 wanted Bougainvilleans to have access as part of their rural popular education programmes to materials that inform and stimulate discussion about the conflict and the peace process.
The critical literacy kit on the Bougainville peace process was developed in ‘tok pisin’ by literacy workers connected to the Bougainville Inter-Church Women’s Forum.
- Accord Northern Ireland project
The Northern Ireland peace process: education pack includes resources for group discussion and interactive learning, including a role play simulation exercise that puts participants into the shoes of the main people involved in the Northern Ireland peace process.
- Comparative learning project
‘Cooperacion internacional en procesos de paz, co-published by Conciliation Resources and INDEPAZ’, April 2006. [pdf download, 4.22mb]
This Spanish publication contains case studies of international cooperation in peace processes in Angola, Armenian and Azerbaijan, Colombia, Sierra Leone and Tajikistan. It is used as a resource material for CR’s comparative learning project with people in Colombia involved in peacemaking.
