Dili declaration: A new vision for peacebuilding and statebuilding

This declaration was made by representatives of developing countries, partners and civil society after meeting in East Timor in April 2010.  This was part of the International Dialogue to improve assistance for peacebuilding and statebuilding. Conciliation Resources was present at the meeting.

The statement articulates their shared vision of preventing conflicts and seeing accountable states prosper.  Goals to achieve this include adopting inclusive political settlements and strengthening security.

It also sets out the challenges which must be faced —for example, lack of civil society input and the weak alignment of donors.  Actions to be taken include formulating an International Action Plan.  Women and youth issues are also focused on.
