Background paper: Voices of civil society organizations on peacebuilding and statebuilding

This paper summarises the results of a consultation with 49 civil society organisations (including Conciliation Resources) by Interpeace.  The emerging themes were then used as input into the International Dialogue meeting on Peacebuilding and statebuilding to be held in April 2010.  

Central observations from the consultation were that peacebuilding and statebuilding: (1) are processes and process matters; (2) should be complementary and mutually reinforcing processes but tensions arise; and (3) need to be internally-led and externally-supported.

The report also includes annexes with a list of the participating organisations and the questions they were asked.
