Joint statement signed by the MNLF and MILF

Joint statement

During the first meeting of the Joint Coordinating Council (JCC) of the Bangsamoro Solidarity Conference (BSC) of the representatives of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) held on May 8-9, 2002 at Cyberview Lodge Resort, Cyberjaya, Malaysia, the parties agreed on the following:

1. Affirmed the establishment of the Bangsamoro Solidarity Conference, as agreed in the MNLF-MILF agreement on general framework for unity dated august 7, 2001.

2. organization of the Joint Coordinating Council composed of five (5) members each from the MNLF and the MILF, respectively, and its secretariat composed of 3 members each.

3. To send a joint delegation to the 29th Islamic Conference Of Foreign Ministers (ICFM) of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on June 27, 2002 at Khartoum, Sudan.

4. The parties reiterate their commitment to finding a peaceful, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Bangsamoro problem in Mindanao.

5. The parties agreed to urge the GRP to adhere and strictly observe established coordinative mechanism pursuant to the provisions of the GRP-MILF agreement on the security aspect of the Tripoli peace agreement of 2001 and its implementing guidelines in order to avoid armed confrontation.

And finally, the MNLF and the MILF extend their fraternal gratitude to the OIC secretary general and the OIC committee of eight for their continued support to the Bangsamoro people.
