Partners and events Kacoke Madit (KM) is a Ugandan Acholi diaspora peace initiative that aims to establish and consolidate dialogue with and among parties to the conflict in northern Uganda with the ultimate goal of improving opportunities for a peace settlement. We began working with the KM Secretariat (based in London) in 1998 and have now developed a Uganda programme. Protracted violence, elusive peace: initiatives to end the violence in northern Uganda (Accord issue 11, 2002) was translated into the Luo language by Kacoke Madit. Events To launch the Accord publication in Uganda, CR and Kacoke Madit held a civil society workshop in Kitgum and a seminar in Kampala. In association with the Centre of African Studies, University of London, and Kacoke Madit we organized a seminar to launch the publication in May 2002 at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. You can read the seminar report Learning from past experiences to inform future efforts: the conflict in northern Uganda and a speech given by the Ugandan High Commissioner, Professor George B. Kirya on this topic.
