IRA MEMBER/COMMUNITY ACTIVIST: INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTIONS (x2)

You are totally against the decommissioning of your weapons. It is against your history and culture. Your war is with the British Army and they have still got military basis in your area and they continue to patrol your area, which you find offensive. Decommission is related to British demilitarisation not to the actions of the unionists or any other party. However you have no desire to return to violence. You do not trust the unionists and the British. If they were really committed to a new relationship with republicans and to the Belfast Agreement they would accept your statements that you support the peace process and would stop demanding that you surrender your weapons.

You are also suspicious of the other parties including your own party Sinn Féin. You feel that members may be seduced by being in government and a comfortable life style and will lose their old militant roots.

You have met the International Independent Commission on Decommissioning a few times but you have not really talked seriously to them about decommissioning. You know that most other organisations and parties are unwilling to speak to you. You can make direct contact with the Sinn Féin leadership without sending a message through the post office.
