Work has begun on a new Conciliation Resources project, which aims to increase women’s participation in local, national and cross-border peacebuilding efforts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic and South Sudan.
The Colombian Government and Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have announced a historic ceasefire agreement. This agreement effectively puts an end to the last major internal armed conflict in the Western Hemisphere, which has killed more than 220,000 and displaced millions during the past half a century.
Dr Emma Leslie, an associate of the Philippines programme, has been awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. The award was given for Dr Leslie’s work on peacebuilding and mediation – particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.

Conciliation Resources welcomes the ceasefire following three days of military escalation in and around Nagorny Karabakh. As a peacebuilding organisation, which supports dialogue between Armenians and Azerbaijanis, we hope that the ceasefire holds and negotiations are resumed with immediate effect. We believe that the conflict can and must be resolved peacefully.
We have been deeply worried by the extreme statements and threats to further intensify the fighting and ongoing polarisation. Many lives have been lost; numerous homes and livelihoods have also been destroyed.
After twenty-one years leading Conciliation Resources, co-founder and Executive Director Andy Carl is leaving the organisation. Andy has been a continuous source of inspiration, guiding Conciliation Resources to become a recognised force for peace around the world.
