IDP seminar january 06
IDP network event in Georgia
Over 20 organizations working on issues which affect internally displaced persons, met in June in Tbilisi, Georgia to discuss how IDPs can increase their political participation. The meeting built on advocacy work carried out by CR's partners at a regional level. Representatives of two national political parties attended to hear about the work of the IDP network and answer questions about their policies towards the IDP community and the resolution of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict.

CR at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly
In April 2007, Jonathan Cohen, CR's Caucasus programme co-Director, took part in the 65th Rose Roth seminar at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Tbilisi, Georgia. The seminar focused on a range of issues shaping Georgia's aspirations and prospects for Euro-Atlantic integration. It featured President Mikheil Saakashvili and other prominent Georgian Ministers as well as senior officials from NATO, the EU, the OSCE and the IMF and speakers from NGOs and the academic community.

Strengthening Citizens' Security project
CR has commenced a 15 month pilot project in Sierra Leone, supported by DFID, which seeks to address the gap in citizens’ involvement in their own security and oversight of the security sector. The long-term aim is to develop sustainable mechanisms and capabilities within civil society. CR will be working in collaboration with the Mano River Women’s Peace Network, Search for Common Ground/Talking Drum Studios, and the Centre for Development and Security Analysis. more...

Crisis in the Caucasus
The seismic changes in the political landscape of the Caucasus following the war in August over South Ossetia pose huge challenges for peacebuilding. Despite efforts to deal with the immediate consequences, conflict resolution appears more elusive than ever. Much work is needed to support our regional partners in coming to terms with the new geopolitical reality and situation on the ground. New approaches are needed to resolve the old problems at the heart of the crisis and to find a long-term solution that enables everyone in the region to live together peacefully.
Dialogue through Film 2006
Dialogue Through Film screening
Four short documentary films by Azeri and Karabakhi journalists were screened in Georgia in April 2007. The films have been produced as part of the Dialogue Through Film project - a year-long collaboration between CR and Internews Armenia, Internews Azerbaijan and the Stepanakert Press Club within the framework of the Consortium Initiative.

Sharing Lessons
Andy Carl, CR’s Executive Director, recently spoke at the All Party Parliamentary Group on Conflict Issues on What lessons can be learned from British NGO’s working to transform violent conflicts? He also chaired a meeting on Truth recovery in Northern Ireland: Lessons from Latin America at Chatham House in London.
