News

Nagorny Karabakh peace process
In November the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed the Moscow Declaration signaling their intent to make progress towards resolving the conflict over Nagorny Karabakh. Conciliation Resources as part of the Consortium Initiative called on the presidents and the co-chairs of the Minsk Process tasked with mediating the negotiations to allow civil society to play a greater role in the peace process. Read a joint press release and more about our work on the conflict.

New publications

Research on Sudan-Uganda’s perilous border
Conciliation Resources has published the first study into how decades of conflict involving the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and other armed groups has affected Sudanese communities living along the Sudan-Uganda border. It gives an insight into local people’s views and some of the profound challenges for peacebuilding and statebuilding in Southern Sudan and its border areas. Read the report here.

They also travelled to the south of the country to see the work of the Bo Peace and Reconciliation Movement peace monitors. Read more about the trip, listen to a radio discussion or view a photo journal.

Participants were keen that their positive experiences should inform best practice elsewhere. Discussions focused on tensions between development aid and support for peace processes, and democratization as a way of involving marginalized groups. Read more...
