Internews Armenia: 'Freedom of information for any society is a crucial thing'

Internews Armenia is part of a initiative which aims to give young people in Azerbaijan and Nagorny Karabakh a chance to talk directly to each other, by helping them make short films about their lives. The 20 young people involved so far have also been learning crucial lessons about each other. Nouneh Sarkissian trains and mentors the participants – both to produce the films, and to facilitate at community screenings in Armenia.

Memories Without Borders is a unique Turkish-Armenian-Azerbaijani documentary, looking at the impacts of troubled histories on individual lives today. At the meeting point between official history and personal lives the film challenges audiences to ask: what do we choose to remember about others, and what do others choose to remember about us?

Remembering and forgetting in Turkey and the Caucasus

Memories Without Borders is a new film looking at how memory shapes identity and can unite or divide people. The production, now screening in Turkey and the South Caucasus, is the result of a two-year collaboration between a group of Turkish, Armenian and Azerbaijani film-makers.
