Committee for Conflict Transformation Support

CCTS
Review 41 - December 2009

Dear Readers,
This, the final issue of the CCTS Review, is devoted to a seminar in which Diana Francis presented and spoke to a paper setting out her vision of a global agenda for conflict transformation. In it she identifies some of the challenges it faces, arguing the need to incorporate insights and practices from Gandhian nonviolence and ‘people power’ and to address militarism as such, working more closely with popular movements that can contribute to positive peace.

The seminar was exceptionally well attended and explored fundamental issues which are too often put to one side in discussions of conflict transformation. Although there were disagreements about ultimate aims and possibilities, there was also a consensus that these need not stand in the way of the further development of the theory and practice in this field.

The seminar was held at The Community Hub, Corsham Street, London. The day was facilitated by Hen Wilkinson, and the report is written by Michael Randle.
