Bishnu Sapkota discusses the important role that peace support structures played in reinforcing peace talks between the Maoists and the Nepali state. A number of these structures, such as a Peace Secretariat, were created following failed rounds of negotiations in 2001 and 2003. The elevation and expansion of this peace architecture following the war has, however, opened several structures up to politicisation, and many senior Nepali leaders have been reluctant to engage with the peace agenda at all.
